Colleville Adds New Stallion

Following the success of leading French sire Kendargent (Fr) (Kendor {Fr}), Guy Pariente’s Haras de Colleville will add a new stallion to its roster for 2016, the stakes-winning Galiway (GB) (Galileo {Ire}–Danzigaway, by Danehill), a half-brother to Silent Name (Jpn) (Sunday Silence), according to Jour de Galop. Racing as a homebred for the Wertheimer brothers and trainer Andre Fabre, Galiway won the Listed Prix Le Fabuleaux over nine furlongs at Maisons-Laffitte when last seen last October, and was also fifth, beaten three lengths, in the G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains last year.

Guillaume Vitse, stud manager at Haras de Colleville, told Jour de Galop, “Mr. [Guy] Pariente very much believes in speed. Galiway is a horse who has this quality. He is a winner at a mile, placed in a group race at 1400 meters and his family has made their mark at the distance. This stallion offers numerous outcross possibilities. He could for example perfectly fit descendants of Kendor, like the daughters of Kendargent. Galiway is stamped by his paternal family. He’s a horse built like his father, with good bone and a good walk. He represents a beautiful opportunity for French breeders. He’s a son of Galileo, the champion sire and sire of champion sires and his introductory price of €3,000 stands and nurses is very attractive.”
