Credit’ Leads the Charge

The streaking Consumer Credit (More Than Ready), a one-length victress over Quality Rocks (Rock Hard Ten) in the Sweetest Chant S. Jan. 24, headlines a field of nine 3-year-old fillies entered in Saturday’s GIII Herecomesthebride S. at Gulfstream Park. The Klaravich Stables and William H. Lawrence colorbearer followed a Belmont maiden win going six furlongs over a yielding turf course Oct. 25 with an impressive score in the Wait a While S. at Gulfstream West Nov. 29. Consumer Credit gave trainer Chad Brown his fourth straight triumph in the Sweetest Chant, having won the previous three editions with Ready to Act (More Than Ready) (2014), Premier Steps (Ire) (Footstepsinthesand {GB}) (2013), and Dayatthespa (City Zip) (2012).

“All the fillies that have won that race all turned out to be really nice, and she’d fit in with all of them,” Brown said. “These are still young fillies at this stage when you’re talking about January of their 3-year-old year, so there’s still a lot of development to go, but as far as where all of those fillies were at this stage, they’re very close. She ranks right up there with them.”

Brown added, “She’s doing really well. She’s on quite a roll right now. She’s won three in a row and seems to be training as good as ever. I look forward to running her.”

Stronach Stables’ Devine Aida (Unbridled’s Song) rides a three-race winning streak of her own, headed by a 3 1/2-length success in Gulfstream’s Ginger Brew S. last time Jan. 3. The well-bred Pine Needles (Giant’s Causeway) held on by a nose to go wire-to-wire in a nine-furlong maiden special weight at first asking at Gulfstream Jan. 1. She adds Lasix for this.
