Curvy (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), a troubled fifth behind Stephanie’s Kitten (Kitten’s Joy) while making her stateside debut over a soft turf course in the Oct. 3 GI Flower Bowl Invitational, found conditions north of the border more to her liking, producing a confident 1 1/2-length tally in the GI E.P. Taylor S. at Woodbine Sunday. Away a step slowly, the tepid 2-1 favorite raced near the back of the pack behind a pedestrian early pace set by Rosalind (Broken Vow). Forced to wait for running room turning for home, Curvy weaved around foes and burst out of the pack to tackle Rosalind with a sixteenth to run and held sway late over Talmada (Cape Cross {Ire}).

“I was following a wall of horses,” winning jockey Ryan Moore said of his trip aboard Curvy (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) in the GI E.P. Taylor.

Moore said a return to a course condition similar to the win over which she won the June 18 G2 Ribblesdale S. helped her effort at Woodbine Sunday.

“She’d won a Group 2 at Royal Ascot, but the ground at Belmont was too soft for her,” Moore, who rode that day and was having only his second mount aboard the winner, confirmed.

In addition to her win in the Ribblesdale, Curvy also won this year’s G3 Airlie Stud Gallinule S. She was third in the July 18 G1 Darley Irish Oaks before concluding her European campaign with a close-up fourth-place effort in the Aug. 20 GI Darley Yorkshire Oaks.

A $1.3-million Tattersalls October yearling purchase by M.V. Magnier, Curvy’s half-brother by Oasis Dream (GB) sold for $363,390 at that sale in 2014. Her dam Frappe is a half-sister to group winner Footstepsinthesand (GB) (Giant’s Causeway).
