DANCE WITH FATE (c, 3, Two Step Salsa–Flirting With Fate, by Saint Ballado), a second-out graduate at Del Mar in August, ran on late to finish second in the GI Del Mar Futurity in early September. He filled the same slot as the favorite in Santa Anita’s GI FrontRunner S. Sept. 28, but could not overcome a rough start and settled for eighth in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile S. Nov. 2. Backed down to 6-5 favoritism for this turf debut, the $120,000 OBSAPR 2-year-old buy was allowed to settle off the pace in second-to-last early. He began to inch forward on the turn for home while traveling very strongly, and tipped out widest of all in upper stretch. Once he leveled off it was all over, and the chalk inhaled his competition for a sharp 1 3/4-length score. Brother Soldier (Brother Derek) was second. Lifetime Record: MGISP, 6-2-2-0, $190,050.
