Impressive when scoring on debut from the subsequent winners Minding (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Miss Gossip (Ire) (Big Bad Bob {Ire}) over this track and trip June 11, Tanaza returned to annexe this early pointer to next year’s Classics. Settled in behind the early leaders after a quick break, the bay tracked her chief rival Alice Springs throughout and rolled by that favorite approaching the furlong pole. Game when pressed to the line, the homebred asserted to score with a little in hand. “She’s got a very good turn of foot and really quickened up well,” jockey Pat Smullen said. “They went a good pace and I was happy to take back and get her relaxed and as the race went on I got more and more confident. We always thought she was decent and she looks like a sharp, sprinting type of filly and a mile will probably be her ideal trip.” Dermot Weld added, “She’s a very good filly who has always shown us a lot of talent, but I thought she might like a little bit more ease in the ground. Pat said she strode out beautifully on this ground and she is a class act. This was a very good renewal and they went a good pace all the way. There is a lot of stamina in her family, but she’s all speed and her one more run this year will hopefully be in the G1 Moyglare Stud S. [at The Curragh Sept. 23] before being trained for a 1000 Guineas next year.”
