Duramente Out of Arc Contention
Duramente (Jpn) (King Kamehameha {Jpn}), winner of this year’s G1 Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) and G1 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby), will be sidelined for at least six months, and therefore miss an intended bid at the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, after suffering an injury, according to Racing Post. The Sunday Racing colorbearer has suffered distal fractures of both front legs, for which he is set to have surgery next week. Connections hope the 3-year-old will be able to return to the races next spring.
Also ruled out of the Arc due to injury is Japan’s Epiphaneia (Jpn) (Symboli Kris S), winner of last year’s Japan Cup and last of nine in the G1 Dubai World Cup when last seen Mar. 28. Epiphaneia has injured a suspensory ligament, with no timeline given on his return.
