Gatsby Takes A Break
One horse who appears to have run his last race this year is The Grey Gatsby (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}). Although he never got his head in front when it mattered this season the Kevin Ryan trainee still ran some huge races in defeat including when chasing home Golden Horn (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}) in the G1 Eclipse S. at Sandown and also when just missing out to Free Eagle (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}) in the G1 Prince Of Wales’s S. at Royal Ascot. A possible trip to Keeneland for the Breeders’ Cup has now been ruled out for the 4-year-old with Kevin Ryan announcing on Twitter, “Gatsby will not head to the Breeders’ Cup and will now have a holiday. He will stay in training for next year.” Potential early targets for 2016 could include a return trip to Dubai where this year he ran second to Solow (Fr) (Singspiel {Ire}) in the G1 Dubai Turf, picking up over £750,000 for his troubles.
