Gleneagles To Coolmore In 2016

This year’s dual Guineas winner Gleneagles (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) will be retired to stand alongside his sire at Coolmore’s Fethard headquarters after Saturday’s GI Breeders’ Cup Classic. The 3-year-old is the second Classic winner produced by the Group 2-winning You’resothrilling (Storm), a full-sister to Giant’s Causeway. He is a full-brother to last year’s G1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Marvellous (Ire) and this year’s G3 Park S. winner Coolmore (Ire). Gleneagles was the Cartier juvenile champion of 2014 after winning three group races, including the G1 Goffs Vincent O’Brien National S., and he has won this year’s G1 Qipco 2000 Guineas, G1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas and G1 St James’s Palace S.

Coolmore’s Director of Sales David O’Loughlin was enthusiastic about the addition of Gleneagles to the roster, saying, “he’s by sire of sires Galileo, and he’s very much like his sire. In terms of his physique he’s a tremendous-looking individual, like Galileo, who gets great-looking foals.”
