Godolphin Team Gearing Up for Golden Slipper

Godolphin’s Australian juveniles have been firing bullets since the start to the 2014-15 season, knocking six wins and securing the top two spots in the betting for the G1 Golden Slipper Mar. 21.

Furnaces (Aus) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}) was the first to catch the eye when romping to a clear-cut victory at Rosehill, Oct. 25, only to be displaced by his female stablemate Ottoman (Aus) (Exceed And Excel), who overcame a sluggish start and trouble in running to score at the same track, Dec. 20. Both are expected to be seen back in action next month.

Trainer John O’Shea told AAP, “We are looking to qualify as many as possible for the Golden Slipper and will be trying to keep them apart as much as possible. Being a filly and colt helps for Ottoman and Furnaces and they will be trialing soon and then we will shore up where they will start [their autumn campaigns].”

O’Shea continued, “Furnaces is a little ahead of the filly and he will be at the trials at Rosehill Feb. 3. Ottoman will be a week later at Warwick Farm Feb. 9. We want to accumulate as much prizemoney as possible with our 2-year-olds and then we will decide which is the best way to go with them.”
