Pegram, Watson and Weitman's Hoppertunity (Any Given Saturday) kicks off his 4-year-old campaign in Saturday's GII San Pasqual S. at Santa Anita.
The half-brother to MGISW Executiveprivilege (First Samurai), a heart-breaking defection with a foot issue two days before the GI Kentucky Derby, returned from the shelf with a smart second-place finish in a seven-furlong optional claimer here Oct. 29, then secured a very game decision in Churchill's GI Clark H. last time Nov. 28. Last term's GII Rebel S. winner and GI Santa Anita Derby runner-up worked six furlongs in 1:12 3/5 at Santa Anita.
Don Alberto Stable's Bronzo (Chi) (Fusaichi Pegasus) held his own with a decent fourth while making his U.S. debut for trainer Jorge Inda in the GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile Oct. 31. The G1 Gran Premio Hipodromo Chile hero makes his first start for Hall of Famer Neil Drysdale, who also, of course, campaigned his GI Kentucky Derby-winning sire. “He ran very well in the Breeders' Cup, I thought,” Drysdale said. “The track was quite speed conducive. Goldencents set those crazy fractions and kept on going. The distance should help him. I think the further he goes, the better. He probably
wants a mile and quarter. He's doing well, but this might be a bit short for him.”
Flaxman Holdings' Quadrivium (Henrythenavigator) has been perfect in two stateside dirt attempts since joining the Graham Motion barn and adding Lasix. The bay followed a sloppy Keeneland allowance win Oct. 16 with an optional claiming tally at Laurel Nov. 14.
Majestic Harbor (Rockport Harbor), upsetter of last June's GI Gold Cup at Santa Anita, looks to get back on track after a trio of off-the-board finishes, including a 13th-place finish in the GI Breeders' Cup Classic last time Nov. 1.
