Hip Happenings (9/11/14)

Hip 591, c, Giant’s Causeway–Dream of Summer, by Siberian Summer
Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, Agent XXXI
Out of Grade I winner Dream of Summer, this yearling is a full-brother to GI Norfolk S. winner Creative Cause. “He is probably the best foal that that mare has had,” said Duncan Taylor. “He’s a very refined colt with a good walk to him and he just looks like he’ll be a nice horse.”

Hip 593, c, Tapit–Dream Rush, by Wild Rush
Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, Agent for Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings LLC
Out of multiple Grade I winner Dream Rush, this gray colt is a half-brother to GI Frizette S. winner Dreaming of Julia (A.P. Indy). The yearling is also a half to unbeaten Atreides (Medaglia d’Oro), recently tabbed aJ “TDN Rising Star” J after his 17 1/2-length victory in the Monarchos S.

Hip 595, c, Tiznow–Dream Supreme, by Seeking the Gold
Consigned by Lane’s End, agent for Kinsman Farm
This bay colt’s pedigree needs little introduction–he’s out of Kinsman Stable’s multiple Grade I-winning millionaire Dream Supreme, making him a half to 2007 GI Hopeful S. winner and sire Majestic Warrior (A.P. Indy). A Medaglia d’Oro half-brother to this colt brought $1-million here a year ago.

Hip 603, c, Uncle Mo–Eagle Sound, by Fusaichi Pegasus
Consigned by Paramount Sales, Agent XXXIV
Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie) was named champion juvenile after winning the GI Champagne S. and GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, and trained on to take the GII Kelso S. after an interrupted sophomore season. From his first crop, this colt is a half to GSP Pick of the Litter (Kitten’s Joy). “I’ve heard from several people that he’s the best Uncle Mo they’ve seen,” said consignor Pat Costello.

Hip 680, c, War Front–Gold Vault, by Arch
Consigned by Claiborne Farm, agent
One of the better bred War Fronts in the catalogue, this colt is a half-brother to the brilliant filly Contested (Ghostzapper), winner of the GI TVG Acorn S. and GI Test S. for the Bob Baffert barn. Both were produced by three-time winner Gold Vault, a half to another dual Grade I winner in New York, Pomeroy (Boundary). “He’s got great size for a War Front,” said Claiborne’s Walker Hancock. “He’s real athletic and strong–very muscular. He’s from a great family, and we love Arch as a broodmare sire. Being a half to Contested, it’s obvious the mare can throw runners, and he looks to continue that.”

Hip 731, c, Harlan’s Holiday–Intensify,
by Unbridled’s Song
Consigned by Select Sales, agent
This is the full-brother to this year’s standout sophomore Intense Holiday, the winner of the GII Risen Star S. who sadly succumbed to laminitis in July. Their dam, originally a $650,000 Keeneland September yearling, is a half to the hickory-tough Crafty Shaw (Crafty Prospector), the millionaire MGSW, and to the SW & MGSP Her She Kisses (Dehere). “This colt is such a great mover,” said consignor and co-breeder Carrie Brogden. “He has his father’s head and eye, along with the stretch of Unbridled’s Song from his mother. I cried like a baby when his brother died, as we had already started planning mares to send to him. But now this guy has given me hope that there might be a future for this son of Harlan’s Holiday.”

Hip 747, c, Galileo (Ire)–Justenuffheart, by Broad Brush
Consigned by Lane’s End, agent for Mt. Brilliant Farm
The final yearling by the world’s leading sire Galileo on offer at this year’s sale, this Irish-bred bay is a half-sister to champion 2-year-old filly Dreaming of Anna (Rahy) and multiple graded stakes winners Lewis Michael (Rahy) and Justenuffhumor (Distorted). His MSW dam is a half-sister to champion and in-demand sire Kitten’s Joy (El Prado {Ire}) and MGISW Precious Kitten (Catienus).

Hip 748, c, Tapit–Justenufftime, by Giant’s Causeway
Consigned by Lane’s End, agent for Mt. Brilliant Farm
This Mar. 28 foal is out of a half-sister to hip 747. He received a timely update when his J “TDN Rising Star” J full-sister Cassatt annexed the Aug. 9 GIII Monmouth Oaks by 3 3/4 lengths.

Hip 749, c, Tapit–Justwhistledixie, by Dixie Union
Consigned by Clearsky Farms, Agent II
Justwhistledixie, a half to GSW Chace City (Carson City) and GSP Bakken (Distorted Humor), was a first-class racemare, winning the GII Bonnie Miss S. and GII Davona Dale S. and placing second in the
GI Acorn S. at three. She passed that ability onto her first foal New Year’s Day (Street Cry {Ire}), who won last year’s GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile before an untimely injury forced his retirement.
