Honor Code Works for Met Mile

The Shug McGaughey-trained Honor Code (A.P. Indy) worked a five panel bullet in :59.91 (1/24) at Belmont Sunday in preparation for a start in the GI Metropolitan H. June 6. The multiple graded stakes winner most recently finished fifth as the 7-5 pick in Churchill’s GII Alysheba S. May 1. “He did it easily,” McGaughey said of the work. “He left his company behind. I thought that would carry him along a little father, but Javier said everything was good. He galloped out good, finished good, all systems go so far.

As for his disappointing effort last out, McGaughey explained, “I just don’t think he liked the track at Churchill, or at least that’s what I’m banking on. He came out of the race good and has had a couple of good works here at Belmont.”
