JBBA Purchases Eskendereya
The Japan Bloodhorse Breeders’ Association has purchased Eskendereya (Giant’s Causeway–Aldebaran Light, by Seattle Slew) from Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings and the 8-year-old will stand in Japan for the 2016 breeding season.
“Mrs. Banke and Stonestreet have done a tremendous job of supporting Eskendereya from day one, and I don’t believe they ever intended to sell him,” Taylor Made Stallions’ Ben Taylor. “But the Japanese have always been very interested and came to see him every year. They recently submitted an offer that was accepted by Stonestreet.”
Eskendereya entered stud at Taylor Made in 2011 and stood for $17,500 stands and nurses during the 2015 season. The 2010 GI Wood Memorial S. winner has four crops and a total of 294 foals, 195 of which are of racing age with 46 winners. Out of his two crops of racing age, the chestnut has four black-type winners and five black-type placed progeny.
Eskendereya’s top foals include MGSP 3-year-old filly Eskenformoney; SW juvenile fillies Sombree and Right There, who was most recently third in the GI Chandelier S.; and SW sophomores Conquest Pacemaker and Isabella Sings, who was second in the GIII Boiling Springs S. Sept. 5.
