Keeneland Numbers Remain Steady

Numbers remained fairly steady during the seventh session of the Keeneland November Sale. Out of the 414 catalogued hips, 256 sold for an average of $28,932, which was down 10.73% from the 2014 figure. The RNA rate of 24.7% was slightly higher than last year’s rate of 22.5%. Calument Farm was session seven’s leading buyer, having purchased three head for a total of $245,000, while Taylor Made was the leading consignor, having sold seven for a total of $689,000. A colt by Lane’s End’s The Factor, who sold as hip 2516, led the way Sunday during the opening session of Book Four. The weanling was bred by Overbrook Farm and consigned by Mr. and Mrs. Mike Freeny. George Bolton and Stonestreet Stables purchased the colt for $155,000. The colt is out of Unbridled mare Winning Country, who is out of MGSW Shawnee Country. Flashy Ride (hip 2236) was the highest-priced mare on the day. The Candy Ride (Arg) mare, who is in foal to Uncle Mo, was purchased by TNIP Stables for 110,000.
The cumulative figures so far through the seven sessions remain nicely ahead of the corresponding 2014 figures, with 1,462 horses sold for an average of $135,386, up 14.7% from last year. The median of $65,000 is up 8.3% from the 2014 median of $60,000. The RNA rate is also slightly up to 27.15% from 22% in 2014. The Keeneland November sale continues through Friday with session beginning daily at 10 a.m.
