Kitten’s Joy Colt Wins at Tampa
BOBBY’S KITTEN (c, Kitten’s Joy–Celestial Woods, by Forestry), off since running a close-up third as the favorite in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Nov. 1, made a successful sophomore debut here. Working well at Palm Meadows for trainer Chad Brown, the Ramsey homebred, off at 2-5 odds, was eager early under regular jockey Javier Castellano and was hard held through splits of :24 1/5 and :48 flat. He began to get away from the pressing second choice Global View (Galileo {Ire}) on the turn and was under only a hand ride to account for that foe by 1 1/2 lengths on the line. A daylight winner in his second start over Saratoga’s lawn Aug. 24, Bobby’s Kitten aired by 6 1/4 lengths in the GIII Pilgrim S. at Belmont Oct. 6 before being tagged late by Outstrip (GB) (Exceed and Excel {GB}) and Giovanni Boldini (War Front) in the Breeders’ Cup after setting unrealistically fast fractions. The winner is a full sibling to Major Magic, MSW, $140,966. Lifetime Record: 5-3-0-2, $309,500. Click for the brisnet.com chart or VIDEO.
