Kosmische Presence
Baden-Baden stage the second of the country’s major 2-year-old contests on Sunday, when the cream of the domestic fillies line up for the G3 Preis der Winterkonigin. Rashit Shaykhutdinov’s Kosmische (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) has the edge over her compatriots at present, having beaten Double Dream (Fr) (Lawman {Fr}) in the Listed Preis des Medienhauses DuMont Rheinland over 7 1/2 furlongs at Cologne Sept. 26. Not scared off by the presence of the Andreas Wohler trainee, Double Dream’s conditioner Markus Klug also saddles three other contenders including Gestut Park Wiedingen’s Sept. 20 Dortmund winner Dhaba (Ger) (Areion {Ger}) and Horst Pudwill’s Fosun (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}), who created a lasting impression with a five-length debut success at Dresden Oct. 4. Kosmische’s trainer Wohler also has two others, with Gestut Ebbesloh’s Dalmatian Sea (Ger) (Lord of England {Ger}) prominent in the betting having beaten two re-opposing rivals in a seven-furlong contest at Dusseldorf when last seen Aug. 23.
