Lankan Rupee Out For The Spring
Australian champion sprinter Lankan Rupee (Aus) (Redoute’s Choice {Aus}) has been ruled out of the remainder of the spring carnival in that country after suffering a hock injury, according to Racing.com. The 6-year-old gelding is suspected to have suffered the injury when third as the favorite in the G2 Schillaci S. at Caulfield last weekend, and trainer Mick Price said the bay will undergo surgery.
“We’ve narrowed [the injury] down to an area in the off-hind hock,” the conditioner told Racing.com. “That operation will be performed in the next few days. The prognosis for a successful return to racing is good. This preparation is out, and it remains to be seen what we do for the autumn.”
Lankan Rupee notched his fifth Group 1 win in the Feb. 21 G1 Black Caviar Lightning S. but has been winless in three starts since.
