Fresh from her successful raid on the G2 Oaks d’Italia, Gestut Ittlingen’s Lovelyn (Ger) (Tiger Hill {Ire}) returns to her native Germany on Sunday to take on the colts and older horses in Hamburg’s G2 Grosser Hansa-Preis. Showing gameness to belie her inexperience when capturing that 11-furlong Classic at the San Siro at the end of last month, the bay has a significant weight-for-age pull with her rivals, receiving upwards of 12 pounds. Of the older division, Australia Racing Stables’ May 10 G2 Gerling-Preis winner Guardini (Fr) (Dalakhani {Ire}) and Australian Bloodstock Stable’s Singing (Fr) (Singspiel {Ire}) look the leading players, with the latter having finished second to the eventual Melbourne Cup hero Protectionist (Ger) (Monsun {Ger}) in this 12 months ago.
