Madame Chiang Aims for Middleton S.

Last term’s G1 British Champions Fillies & Mares S. winner Madame Chiang (GB) (Archipenko) is on target for a start in York’s G2 Middleton S. May 14, according to trainer David Simcock. 

“She is on target for the Middleton,” Simcock said. “It has always been the plan to start her off at York. I have been pleased with her training. She’s done well over the winter and we are looking forward to getting her on the track.” 

Simcock added, “All being well, this is a stepping stone to the Irish Pretty Polly Stakes and then we’ll take it from there.” 

Winner of that venue’s G3 Musidora S. last May, the bay failed to fire when 10th in the G1 Investec Oaks a month later, and disappointed again with sixth in Longchamp’s G1 Qatar Prix Vermeille Sept. 14 before putting it all together at Ascot Oct. 18.
