Malibu Moon Filly Stars at the Spa

Though he counts GI Kentucky Derby hero Orb among his greatest successes, Spendthrift Farm’s Malibu Moon really established himself as a sire of top-class fillies such as Grade I winners Life At Ten, Ask the Moon, Devil May Care and Funny Moon. A Hill ‘n’ Dale-consigned daughter of the stallion out of Red Hot Bertie (Tabasco Cat) made some headlines Tuesday night in the Finney Sales Pavilion, selling to bloodstock agent Steve Young for $800,000. The Mar. 16 foal is a full-sister to MGSP Cue the Moon and hails from the extended female family of MGSWs Allamerican Bertie and Hurricane Bertie. Hip 170 was bred in New York by Newtown Anner Stud.
