McEvoy Picks Rubick For Coolmore
MCEVOY PICKS RUBICK FOR COOLMORE
Jockey Kerrin McEvoy, who rode J “TDN Rising Star” J Rubick (Aus) (Encosta de Lago {Aus}) to victory in the G2 Schillaci S. at Caulfield Oct. 11, has chosen that mount over last season’s G1 Blue Diamond S. heroine Earthquake (Aus)(Exceed and Excel {Aus}) for the G1 Coolmore Stud S. Nov. 1, according to Racing and Sports. McEvoy, who recently ended his retainer with Earthquake’s owner, Godolphin, has ridden the filly in her last five outings, including a victory in the G3 Thoroughbred Club S. on the same day of Rubick’s Schillaci win. McEvoy was riding the Gerald Ryan-trained Rubick for the first time in the Schillaci, replacing Brenton Avdulla. On their only prior meeting, Rubick was fourth behind Earthquake in the Blue Diamond. Jockey James McDonald will pick up the mount on Earthquake.
