More positive for Riley
Mornington trainer Mark Riley, already facing a three-year suspension for administering Gold For Kev (Aus) (Desert Sun {GB}) with TCO2 (bicarbonate) prior to a race in July last year, received confirmation yesterday by Racing Victoria stewards that another of his charges had returned a positive sample, this time to the anti-inflammatory Meloxicam. The urine swab was taken from the mare Grand Gallop (Aus) (Danerich {Aus}) following a win at Sandown Dec. 10.
Riley’s ban in the case of Gold For Kev was pronounced on Monday by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board with immediate effect upon runners in his name, but a stay was later ordered by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, thus enabling the conditioner to saddle Of The Brave (Aus) in the G1 Blue Diamond S. today
