Mustajeeb To Overbury Stud

Sheikh Hamdan’s multiple group winner Mustajeeb (GB) (Nayef–Rifqah, by Elusive Quality), who set a race record time when winning last year’s G3 Jersey S. at Royal Ascot, has been retired and will enter stud at Overbury Stud in 2016. He will stand for £5,000.

Trained by Dermot Weld, Mustajeeb was a winner at two and also won last year’s G3 Amethyst S. at Leopardstown, and this year’s G2 Greenlands S. at The Curragh. Weld described Mustajeeb as “very powerful, very good-looking and correct, and a joy to train. He was the third-best sprinter in Europe of the last couple of years, and was a tough, genuine racehorse of the highest class.”

Simon Sweeting, manager of Overbury Stud, added, “Mustajeeb is an extremely enticing stallion prospect–the fastest horse in the Galileo family, and a very impressive record-breaking Royal Ascot winner. I’m particularly flattered that Shadwell wishes him to stand at Overbury Stud, and I am indebted to Sheikh Hamdan and his team for giving us this opportunity.”
