Nagle Strikes for Darshaan Daughter
The opportunities to purchase daughters of top broodmare sire Darshaan (GB) will become ever scarcer, so it was no surprise to see Derrinstown Stud’s Tanaghum (GB) (lot 1199), the dam of G3 Curragh Cup winner Tactic (GB) (Sadler’s Wells), attract a bid of €250,000.
The added bonuses that the mare was listed-placed herself, has produced five winners, and is a daughter of Irish 1000 Guineas winner and champion 3-year-old filly Mehthaaf (Nureyev), meant that her credentials are solid enough to have persuaded David Nagle that she would be a worthy addition to the ranks at his Barronstown Stud.
The 14-year-old was sold in foal to Raven’s Pass and has youngsters by Teofilo (Ire), Shamardal and New Approach (Ire) still to race for her.
Another mare to be staying in Ireland is Soniechka (GB) (lot 1100), a Notnowcato (GB) half-sister to multiple group-winning sprinter Titus Livius (Fr) (Machiavellian) who was bought in foal to Henrythenavigator for €145,000 by Peter Doyle for an unnamed client.
