No Excuses For Treve

Two days out from Treve (Fr) (Motivator {GB})’s return to Group 1 competition in Sunday’s Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, trainer Criquette Head-Maarek noted Friday her stable star is ready to go.

“I don’t think we can have any excuse,” she said. “She’s fine, she is in great form and I think she has improved quite a lot since her last race. She has been going very well at home.”

After wintering at the Head family’s Haras du Quesnay, the 5-year-old Treve–a two-time winner of the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe–returned to competition in the G2 Prix Corrida at Saint-Cloud May 29, which she won by four lengths over Group 1 winner We Are (Ire) (Dansili {GB}).

“I think this race is the normal progression for her and she looks good physically,” Head-Maarek added of the Al Shaqab colorbearer. “The draw is good in four and my lead horse [Altaira] is in two, which is good. I don’t think the lead horse will go very far, but the Aga Khan also has a lead horse [Dauran, for his G1 Sheema Classic winner Dolniya] and I don’t think it will be a problem.”
