No Plans Yet for Texas Red

Sidelined GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Texas Red (Afleet Alex), forced to miss the Triple Crown series due to abscess issues with his right front foot, remains at Santa Anita with trainer Keith Desormeaux. The GII San Vicente S. runner-up hasn’t worked since posting a four-furlong breeze in :51 2/5 Mar. 14. 

“I haven’t found any major problems with him, really, and that being so, I’ll keep him here and play around with him,” Desormeaux said. “The only place we found maybe a tad bit of soreness is in his upper suspensory, but other than that, no real issues. I’ll keep him here and maybe I can get him back quicker than we’re expecting, but there is no time table right now. We want to make sure he’s right and go from there.”
