Trainer Jamie Osborne has reported that his charge Toast Of New York (Thewayyouare) has suffered a soft tissue injury and is ruled out of the G1 Dubai World Cup. The colt was among the market favorites for the world's richest race on the back of his nose second to Bayern (Offlee Wild) in the 2014 GI Breeders' Cup Classic. Toast Of New York burst onto the international scene as a 3-year-old when landing the G2 UAE Derby by 2 1/2 lengths. He was subsequently campaigned exclusively in America, running sixth in the GI Belmont Derby Invitational S. before a runner-up effort behind Shared Belief (Candy Ride {Arg}) in the GI Pacific Classic S.
Earlier this year, Sheikh Joaan Al Thani's Al Shaqab Racing revealed that they had bought Toast Of New York from Michael Buckley, with the colt set to remain in Osborne's care. “He's had a setback and, sadly, he's going to miss the World Cup,” said Osborne. “I have to speak to the Al Shaqab team and I'm sure we'll be formulating another plan. It's very disappointing for Sheikh Joaan and his team, and obviously for everybody here. He'll be back.”
