Noseda Shipper Confirmed for Donn
Trainer Jeremy Noseda has confirmed that he will ship Susan Roy’s EBF Stallions Hyde S. hero Sloane Avenue (Candy Ride {Arg}) for the GI Donn H. at Gulfstream Feb. 7.
The 4-year-old has won three of five career starts, including that aforementioned last out tally over the Kempton all-weather Nov. 19. Eighth over a soft turf course in the Oct. 4 GIII Hill Prince S. at Belmont, the Donn will mark his first attempt on dirt.
“We talked about going to Dubai, but we started thinking about the big picture,” Noseda said. “The Donn has a lot of history and tradition. Certainly, prize money is important, but history is also important. We think the Donn is more prestigious from the owner’s view and it’s a big plus for the horse. We discussed it. Do we want to win the Donn or the first leg of the Maktoum Challenge in Dubai?”
Sloane Avenue is a half-brother to GIII Prairie Meadows Cornhusker H. winner and GI Arkansas Derby third-place finisher Carve (First Samurai).
“He’s never run on the dirt, but he’s bred to do it,” Noseda said. “I’m sure he’s a stakes-quality horse and will appreciate it. My experience is that if they’re bred for the dirt they will run on the dirt.”
