Former U.S. galloper Parranda (English Channel), winner of the CECF Singapore Cup Feb. 22 and recently a close third in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Kranji Apr. 26, has been ruled out of next Sunday’s S$3-million G1 Singapore Airlines International Cup after undergoing surgery on a foot, according to a release from the Singapore Turf Club. A four-time stakes winner for trainer Rodolfo Garcia, Parranda won the GIII Wilshire S. and GII Royal Heroine S. while under the care of trainer Jerry Hollendorfer in the latter two-thirds of the 2014 season. The Florida-bred was knocked down to the China Horse Club for $800,000 at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale and made one stateside appearance for trainer Christophe Clement, a handy victory in the GIII Marshua’s River S. at Gulfstream Park Jan. 10.
