Postponed Out Of Breeders’ Cup Turf

G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. winner Postponed (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) will not travel to Kentucky for the GI Breeders’ Cup Turf Oct. 31 after scoping dirty after a work in Newmarket Wednesday. The 4-year-old, owned by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid, will now be aimed at the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan in March.

“I have spoken with Sheikh Mohammed Obaid this morning and I can confirm that Postponed will not run in the Breeders’ Cup,” Varian said in a statement. “His post-work scope was not 100% and we do not want to risk traveling him unless he is in peak health. His likely next target will be the Dubai Sheema Classic at the end of March, possibly with a prep run before.”

Postponed has not run since taking the G2 Prix Foy at Longchamp Sept. 13 for trainer Luca Cumani. Sheikh Obaid moved his entire string to Varian shortly thereafter.
