QIPCO has renewed its sponsorship of the British Champions Series, including the QIPCO Guineas Festival, and its official partnership with Ascot Racecourse until 2024. QIPCO became title sponsor of the British Champions Series, which culminates in Britain’s richest raceday, QIPCO British Champions Day, at Ascot in October, in 2011, and since then purses across the 35-race series have increased by 50% and will be £17.4 million this year. Under the extended deal, next year’s G1 2000 and 1000 Guineas will both be worth £500,000, and there are plans to develop British Champions Day into a £5 million raceday by 2024.
QIPCO last year became Ascot’s first official partner, and the extended deal includes branding and marketing rights, as well as sponsorship of the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth S.
Sheikh Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chief Executive of QIPCO, said, “As a private, family-run investment company, we are privileged to have built an association with world-renowned events such as Royal Ascot and the British Champions Series, the very best of British racing. Our sponsorship of the sport has benefitted our bloodstock operation and increased the company’s international profile. We are proud to support British racing and its wonderful heritage.”
