Calming Influence, who hails from the family of Refuse to Bend (Ire), was hammered down to even-money and showed why in the early stages when traveling easily off the early pace. Sticking close to the rail, he made effortless progress to head Hamish McGonagall (GB) (Namid {GB}) at halfway before inflicting an authoritative five-length defeat on that rival under a hand ride. “I like him and he had been working well at home, but better ground might suit him even better,” Saeed bin Suroor told PA Sport. “He relaxed very well, was professional and finished his race very well. He might have one more run now, but we might also take him back to Dubai after that. He's a horse to look forward to next season.” Jockey Frankie Dettori added, “He had his race won between the three-furlong pole and the one-pole. He's a nice colt and gave me a good feel. He would have given me an even better feel on better ground, but he couldn't have won a lot easier.” The Eu110,000 GOFFEB and Eu240,000 GOFORB yearling is a half to Steel Light (Stravinsky), GSW-US, SP-Ire, $471,955. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, £6,607.
