Despite covering all the ground, debutante Casino Call continued a hot streak with juvenile homebreds for John Brunetti’s Red Oak Stable to earn the ‘TDN Rising Star’distinction. Wild Pussycat (Wildcat Heir) cruised at second asking for Wesley Ward at Gulfstream July 19; Casino Call’s stablemate Imflatoutsweet (Sky Mesa) graduated by daylight switching to the grass here Aug. 13; and Unbridled Daddy (Scat Daddy) closed like a freight train on the Saratoga turf to become a ‘TDN Rising Star’ for Todd Pletcher three days after that. Showing a steady series of stamina-building drills, the 6-1 shot was hard ridden to keep up early while hung out in the four path. The dark bay began to pick off rivals with a flourish around the bend, and looked to be going for an outside run until leader Unbridled Summer (Broken Vow) came out a bit. Angled towards the rail by James Graham, Casino Call charged home gamely to score by a half length before galloping out powerfully. The winner’s favored stablemate Tiz a Tommy Town (Speightstown) was third. Casino Call’s stakes-winning dam—also a Red Oak homebred—is responsible for Charleymillionaire (Sky Mesa), MSP, $125,300. She produced a First Samurai colt earlier this year, and was bred back to that stallion. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $42,000.
