Elate took a ton of play for Claiborne Farm and Bill Mott and ran to the money with a devastatingly easy romp at Aqueduct to become the latest ‘TDN Rising Star’. Coming in with a good-looking series of works, including a bullet breeze from the gate at Belmont Oct. 17 in 1:00 3/5, the dark bay was crushed in the wagering throughout before going off as the narrow 14-5 second choice. Away a bit slowly, Elate moved through between horses early to sit second off of lukewarm favorite Wake Island (War Front) through fractions of :23.48 and :47.42. Moving menacingly after that one midway on the turn, the homebred took over passing three-quarters in 1:12.75 and drew away with every stride in the lane, romping by 12 1/2 lengths. Elate is the first foal out of a stakes-winning dam who was barren in 2015 and produced a Ghostzapper colt this term before being bred to Claiborne stallion Blame. Second dam Yell was a MGSW/MGISP runner who is a half to GISW Eastern Echo (Damascus), MGSW Roar (Forty Niner), Praise (Mr. Prospector), the dam of successful sires Congrats (A.P. Indy) and Flatter (A.P. Indy) and Queens Wild (Spectacular Bid), the dam of blue-hen mare Meghan’s Joy (A.P. Indy). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $36,000.
