Emaraaty was big news before he set foot on a racecourse, sharing top billing at Tattersalls October 2016 when selling for 2.6million gns with another son of Dubawi in the recent G3 Prix la Rochette winner Glorious Journey (GB). An eye-catching fourth after a slow break under tender handling on debut over this trip at Sandown at the start of the month, the bay proved an entirely different proposition here bursting from the stalls full of gusto and tanking his way to the front after a furlong. Jim Crowley only had to keep the steering steady as the 4-9 favourite did it himself, powering well clear of all bar the runner-up Magnificent (GB) (Zebedee {GB}), who got to within 2 1/4 lengths at the line and pulled six clear of the remainder.
Trainer John Gosden is thinking of the G3 Greenham S. back here next April, which suggests he is considered 2000 Guineas material, and he said, “He got a bump leaving the gate and that slightly set him alight. Jim thought he would let him use his stride and he relaxed well in front and picked up well. He had an interesting first race. The first race didn’t go well, but this one was fine. He is a very promising horse costing all that money and he has a bit of class about him. We will see if he runs again this year or whether we wait for the spring. He certainly has a lot of natural speed.â€
Shadwell’s big plunges at Tattersalls are paying off handsomely, with their 1.6million gns buy Elarqam (GB) (Frankel {GB}) also earning TDN Rising Star status at York last month. Emaraaty is a half-brother to the stable’s G1 Prix Jean Romanet and G1 Pretty Polly S. heroine Izzi Top (GB) (Pivotal {GB}), G1SW-Fr & Ire, MGSW & G1SP-Eng, $734,076, and G2 Prix de la Nonette scorer and G1 Prix de l’Opera runner-up Jazzi Top (GB) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), GSW & G1SP-Fr, SW-Eng, $275,616, out of the 2003 G1 Prix de l’Opera heroine Zee Zee Top. Izzi Top’s first foal Dreamfield (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) was unbeaten for this yard at two but has not been seen in 2017 and the family is pure magic through and through. The second dam Colorspin was successful in the G1 Irish Oaks before producing the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond S., G1 Eclipse S. and G1 Coronation Cup-winning European champion and sire Opera House (GB) and star stayer Kayf Tara (GB) as well as Zee Zee Top and is the second dam of the G1 Moyglare Stud S. scorer Necklace (GB) (Darshaan {GB}). The third dam is the G3 Lingfield Oaks Trial and G3 Lancashire Oaks-winning Meon Valley Stud foundation mare Reprocolor whose other notable performer was the MGSW sire Stagecraft (GB) and whose list of high-profile descendants seems endless.Further enhanced by the recent black-type achievements of Mildenberger (GB) (Teofilo {Ire}) and Ballet Concerto (GB) (Dansili {GB}), the dynasty will continue through Zee Zee Top’s as-yet unraced 3-year-old filly Fizzi Top (GB) (Frankel {GB}) and her yearling filly by Invincible Spirit (Ire).
