Having shown freakish ability on debut at Newcastle in December, Extremely Zain (Hello Youmzain) didn't need to overly extend himself on Friday to become a TDN Rising Star, Presented by Hagyard.

Sent off the 8-11 favourite for Newbury's seven-furlong novice, Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum's relative of Lush Lashes (Galileo) was under hard restraint from Cieren Fallon and was openly resentful of that. Allowed to use his considerable stride in time to take control of the contest inside the final furlong, he was pushed out to score by a neck from Erudition (Mehmas), with Sponsor (Mehmas) 1 1/2 lengths further away in third.

“He's very talented, but also very inexperienced and raw,” Fallon said of one of the longer-term projects among the Rising Star brigade. “He did it the hard way today, but I was trying to teach him to do things the right way. He was over-racing a bit, but did it nicely in the end.”

William Haggas is no rush with the €185,000 Goffs Classic Breeze Up purchase. “He's a nice-tempered horse at home, but this slowly-run race didn't suit,” he said. “He's not ready for a Stakes race yet, so I suppose it'll have to be handicaps. Sheikh Juma understands racing, so we'll make a plan. Cieren feels a mile will be good and its onwards and upwards. He has a big, powerful stride and the faster they go the better he'll be.”

Extremely Zain's dam Alone (Galileo), who was unraced for Coolmore and sold at bargain prices on three occasions, has produced a Stakes performer in Panama in Urban Dancing (Distorted Humor). She is a full-sister to the aforementioned Lush Lashes, who proved a sensation for Jim Bolger when winning the Coronation Stakes, Yorkshire Oaks and Matron Stakes.

Other notables from the family include the Al Bastakiya winner Emblem Storm (English Channel) and the G3 Concorde Stakes and G3 Amethyst Stakes scorer Maker Of Kings (Zoffany). Alone's two-year-old colt Ground Control (Space Blues) was a €40,000 purchase by Henri Devin for Westfield Bloodstock at the Arqana Deauville v2 Yearling Sale.
