Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum's Fooraat (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) was penalised seven pounds for winning her Oct. 25 debut tackling seven furlongs at Newcastle and delivered an emphatic performance to earn TDN Rising Star status on seasonal return in Tuesday's British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Novice S. upped to one mile at Chelmsford City. The March-foaled bay was sharply into stride and assumed immediate control. Comfortable on the lead throughout, the 11-8 second choice had the measure of all 10 rivals when called into action approaching the final furlong and powered further clear in the closing stages to easily outclass Calatrava (Ire) (Havana Gold {Ire}) by a highly impressive seven lengths.
“Fooraat put up a classy performance, all options are on the table for her, including at Royal Ascot, where there is the [G1] Coronation S.,” revealed trainer Roger Varian. “We'll get her home first. It's nice as she's a daughter of Nahrain, who was the first Group 1 winner we had.”
Fooraat is a full-sister to G1 Dubai World Turf, G1 Caulfield S. and G1 Grosser Dallmayr-Preis hero Benbatl (GB) and she is one of three winners for G1 Prix de l'Opera and GI Flower Bowl Invitational heroine Nahrain (GB) (Selkirk). The homebred bay is also full to a yearling filly and a half to the hitherto unraced 2-year-old filly Jammrah (GB) (Sea the Stars {Ire}). Nahrain's dam Bahr (GB) (Generous {Ire}) annexed the G2 Ribblesdale S. and G3 Musidora S. as well as hitting the board in the G1 Epsom Oaks, G1 Irish Oaks and GI Flower Bowl Invitational. Fooraat shares her third dam Lady of the Sea (GB) (Mill Reef), herself a daughter of G1SW New Zealand Horse of the Year La Mer (NZ) (Copenhagen II {GB}), with G1 Toorak H. victor Our Rokkii (NZ) (Roc de Cambes {NZ}).
