Grand Reserve was off slowly and checked at a crucial stage of his lone previous start, a Dec. 4 allowance at Calder. He finished third by a length to Lord Robyn, who would return to win the GIII Tropical Park Derby in his next start. Adding Lasix for this comeback attempt, the homebred made an easy lead beneath Jerry Bailey, responded when set down for the drive and drew off to score by a thoroughly convincing 1 3/4 lengths as the 4-5 chalk. Tour de Force (Cozzene) was second best. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-1, $29,700.
