Guapo Man was well-beaten in two previous sprint attempts, most recently tiring to sixth after setting a quick early pace going six furlongs Feb. 21. The 5-2 favorite angled over from his outside post to take the lead into the first turn. He was under a snug hold through fractions of :23.68 and :47.28, skipped clear on the turn and sailed home a 17-length winner. Tally Jax (Quiet American) was second. Owner/breeder Donald Adam purchased the winner's second dam Catnip, in foal to Storm Cat, for $1,075,000 at the 1997 Keeneland November sale. Running in Adam's colors, her daughter Indescribable, a half-sister to graded stakes winner Micromanage (Medaglia d'Oro), won the 2008 GIII Arlington Matron H., GIII Cardinal H. and 2009 GIII Doubledogdare S. and was second in the 2008 GI Go For Wand H. Guapo Man is her second foal. The mare produced a colt by Tapit in 2014 and was bred back to the Gainesway stallion. Guapo Man's third dam Beware of the Cat is the dam of GI Belmont S. winner Editor's Note and Group 1 winner Hold That Tiger. Lifetime Record: 3-1-0-0, $26,910.
