Immediate Impact, a half-sister to Champion 3-year-old colt Arrogate (Unbridled's Song), lived up to her 2-5 billing, becoming a TDN Rising Star with an emphatic score at Del Mar Sunday afternoon. In front soon after the start, she allowed an eager Majestic Gigi (Artie Schiller) to overtake her momentarily as the leader carved out an initial quarter in :22.21. Still hot on the heels of that rival leaving the backstretch, the Bob Baffert trainee was given her cue approaching the quarter pole, she scooted past the pacesetter with ease, and the outcome was never in question from there as she widened her advantage with every stride, scoring by 6 3/4 lengths. Nora's Joy (Street Sense) was clear of Tacocat (Tale of the Cat) for second. The filly became the second TDN Rising Star for Spendthrift sire Into Mischief, who was also represented by Shoplifted, who took the fourth race at Saratoga Saturday.

“She got away well and got away right”, said trainer Bob Baffert. Drayden [Van Dyke] did the right thing she can be a bit flighty. Arrogate his first time was a mess, and she looking around everywhere. We won't be able to run her back until the [GI] Debutante [S. Aug. 31] We know she's a nice filly, she's a little quirky, but she looked like a really good one right there.

Multiple stakes winning and graded-placed Bubbler is best known for producing Arrogate (Unbridled's Song), Champion 3-year-old Colt in 2016 and Highweight Older Horse at 9.5-11f at four in the UAE. A winner of over $17 million in career earnings, the $560,000 KEESEP yearling purchase accounted for the G1 Dubai World Cup, GI Pegasus World Cup, GI Breeders' Cup Classic and GI Travers S. among his most important victories. Additionally, the 13-year-old mare is responsible for stakes-winning Osare (Medaglia d'Oro) a $300,000 KEESEP yearling buy and an unraced 3-year-old filly by Giant's Causeway named Boyne Beauty. In 2017, breeder Clearsky Farm sold a 50% interest in Bubbler (for complete story, click  here), who was carrying a filly by Tapit at the time. The resulting foal sold for $750,000 at Keeneland last November. The granddaughter of 2-year-old champion filly and six-time Grade I winning Meadow Star (Meadowlake) was bred back to Triple Crown Justify this season.
