2st Dam: Dixie Holiday

Tabbed the 4-5 chalk in this delayed unveiling after scratching at the gate at Saratoga Aug. 21, Marking rolled home an impressive winner at Belmont Park Wednesday and gained ‘TDN Rising Star’ status in the process. The bay was one of the slowest away from the stalls, but was already tugging his way past horses three deep as the leaders hit the quarter in :22.70—despite the very best efforts of Jose Lezcano to get him to settle—to be a close third. Drawing alongside the leading duo after a half in :45.43, the Kiaran McLaughlin trainee instantly took charge when given his head at the top of the stretch and strolled past the post a geared down 2 3/4 lengths to the good of Dannie’s Deceiver (Quality Road), who made up some late ground to be second. The winner’s dam Seventh Street was acquired by Godolphin in 2007 for $1 million at the FTFMAR 2-year-old sale and went on to win the GI Apple Blossom H. and GI Go For Wand H. for them before retiring to the breeding shed. A half-sister to G1 Dubai Golden Shaheen hero Reynaldothewizard (Speightstown), Seventh Street is out of MSW and MGSP Holiday Runner (Meadowlake) and Marking is her second foal. She produced a 2-year-old full-brother to the winner that has yet to race and a colt by Tapit in 2015. Seventh Street was bred back to the latter sire this term. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $45,000.
