Midnight Lucky ranked as the most expensive filly from the first crop of champion sprinter Midnight Lute (Real Quiet) when selling for $220,000 at FTSAUG. The grey had a series of sharp morning drills and was bet down to 4-5. She came away well from her rail post, but was outbroken by Swimmin Insunshine (Successful Appeal) and settled just off that filly in second. Midnight Lucky ranged up outside the pacesetter on the turn with her ears flicking about, and just like that the race was over. After quickly opening up daylight, she continued to build her advantage through the lane under a motionless Rafael Bejarano, and came home a 7 1/4-length winner. My Sweet Addiction (Tiznow–Healthy Addiction), completed the exacta while 5 3/4 lengths clear of the rest. Midnight Lucky’s dam Citiview is a full-sister to Grade I winner Hookedonthefeelin, who in turn has produced Pussycat Doll (Real Quiet), a multiple Grade I winner at seven panels; and 2012 GI Malibu S. hero Jimmy Creed (Distorted Humor). Citiview has a 2-year-old colt by Rock Hard Ten and, after producing a full-sibling to Midnight Lucky last April, was bred to Lookin At Lucky. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $33,600.
