Miss Besilu was purchased for $2.6 million as a weanling out of the Ned Evans dispersal at the 2011 Keeneland November sale during a buying spree by Besilu's Ben Leone. She began her career with a tired sixth going a mile on the Belmont main track Oct. 27, but was flattered when the first and second-place finishers from that heat returned to be third and second, respectively, in last Saturday's GII Demoiselle S. Let go at 6-1 for this turf debut without getting Lasix, the dark bay seized command from the start. She settled in on the rail and loped along comfortably through early splits posted in :25.04 and :53.09. Save the Park (Divine Park) turned the pressure on at the head of the stretch, but Miss Besilu simply extended her stride and quickly put to rest all challenges, winning for fun by 2 1/4 lengths over her pursuer. Miss Besilu is a half to Saint Liam (Saint Ballado), Horse of the Year, Ch. Older Horse, MGISW, $4,456,995. Congressionalhonor (Forestry), GSW, $112,413; Quiet Giant (Giant's Causeway), GSW, $405,389; and Dance Quietly (A.P. Indy), SW, $123,570. Another half-sister Beatem Buster (Honour and Glory) produced GISW Buster's Ready (More Than Ready). Last winter, four fillies conditioned by Hall of Famer Bill Mott were tabbed as “TDN Rising Stars” at Gulfstream, including multiple Grade I winner Close Hatches (First Defence) and graded stakes winner Tapicat (Tapit). Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $25,834.
