Mythical Kid, who cost $1.4 million at Keeneland September, was sent off the 9-2 joint-favorite. The dark bay broke well from his extreme wide draw to race prominently throughout the early stages. Allowing his market rival Contentious (Giant's Causeway) first run approaching the quarter pole, he made up the deficit in impressive fashion under a confident Kerrin McEvoy to roll past that rival at the furlong marker and on to a comfortable three-length score. “That was a good effort as he was drawn wide and never got a horse to park behind, which can make them race away from the pack,” his rider commented. “He did it really well and I just had to point him in the right direction–he looks like a nice horse and felt like one too, and has a lot of scope for next year. He was pretty straightforward, but is going to sharpen up mentally, and you can see him coming on in leaps and bounds off that. He acted really well on the testing ground and has a nice action.” A half-brother to Assos (Alleged), SW & GSP-Fr, $122,072; Mythical Kid is also a 3/4-brother to Divine Propertions (Kingmambo), Ch. 2yo & 3yo Filly-Eur, Hwt. 2yo Filly-Fr, $1,553,704; and Whipper (Miesque's Son), Hwt. 3yo-Fr at 7-9.5f, Hwt. Older Horse-Fr at 5-7f, MG1SW-Fr, $1,164,914. Their dam, the Niarchos-bred Myth to Reality, sold for $125,000 at the 2003 Keeneland January sale in foal to Mt. Livermore. Barren in 2005, she produced a Gone West colt earlier this year. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, £4,533.
