Pinckney Hill, a homebred of Will Farish and Martha Gerry's Lazy F Ranch, looks like a horse with a future after this sharp effort. A son of Group 2 winner Jemima (GB) and a brother to dual Listed winner English Colony (GB) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}), Pinckney Hill revealed little in his morning works leading up to this debut and was sent off at 9-1 odds under Cornelio Velazquez. Settled well off the front rank as the leaders went through honest fractions of :23 1/5, :46 4/5 and
1:10 3/5, the bay progressed into contention with a wide move around the far turn. He took a second to switch gears after fanning into the stretch, but lengthened his stride impressively at the furlong grounds and was going away late. The 2-1 Evolutionist (El Prado {Ire}–Dream Supreme) was three lengths back in second, with 2-1 chalk Chapin Beach (Dynaformer) another length back in third. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $21,000.
