2st Dam: Featherquest (GB)
2st Dam: Featherhill (Fr)
Owner: Wertheimer et Frere
Breeder: Wertheimer et Frere (GB)
Trainer: Andre Fabre
Sent off the 11-10 favourite, Plumatic broke alertly but was anchored early by a confident Maxime Guyon to race with three behind. Making smooth progress at the end of the back straight, the bay was shaken up to take control approaching the furlong marker and draw away for a facile 2 1/2-length verdict over Malkoboy (Fr) (Rajsaman {Fr}). Like his useful listed-winning stablemate Maniaco (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), who was judged worthy of a place in the line-up in last year’s G1 Grand Prix de Paris by Andre Fabre and was beaten just under three lengths in sixth, Plumatic is a son of the former TDN Rising Star Plumania. Her career was marked by steady progression, with a second in the G1 Prix Vermeille and third in the G1 Prix de Diane at three followed by wins in the G2 Prix Corrida and G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud as a 4-year-old. Her half-sister Balladeuse (Fr) (Singspiel {Ire}) proved a smart middle-distance performer, winning the G2 Prix de Royallieu before producing another in her own image in Left Hand (GB), the daughter of Dubawi who swooped to conquer in last year’s G1 Prix Vermeille having finished runner-up in the G1 Prix de Diane. The third dam Featherhill is renowned as the producer of the G1 Prix Lupin-winning Groom Dancer and fellow sires Slew the Slewor and Tagel, while her daughter Sea Hill (Seattle Slew) began a chain reaction of pattern-race notables which featured the G2 Prix de Malleret winner Legerete (Rahy), her son Pilote (Ire) (Pivotal {GB}), the G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains-winning sire Falco and Iron Lips (GB) (Iron Mask). Of the several spin-offs of Sea Hill’s sister Pieds de Plume (Fr), the group 1 fillies Rave Reviews (Ire) (Sadler’s Wells) and Moth (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) stand out, while this is also the family of the Japanese champion sprinter Kinshasa No Kiseki (Aus), G1 Australian Oaks heroine Absolutely (Aus) (Redoute’s Choice {Aus}) and G1 Australasian Oaks winner Abbey Marie (Aus) (Redoute’s Choice {Aus}). Still to come from Plumania are a 2-year-old colt by New Approach (Ire) named Maniac (Ire) and a yearling son of Sea the Stars (Ire) entitled Starmaniac (GB). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, €14,100.
