1st Dam: Crystal Downs

2st Dam: Close Comfort
Owner: Monticule Farm
Breeder: Monticule (KY)
Trainer: William I Mott
Prussian was offered twice at public auction, but failed to reach his reserve on both occasions. Instead, the well-bred colt entered the Monticule racing operation and that decision was validated by an eyecatching debut performance here. The bay signaled his readiness for his debut by working five furlongs over the Saratoga turf training track in 1:01 2/5 Aug. 2 and was sent off the 19-10 chalk to get it done at first asking. Smoothly into stride beneath Kent Desormeaux, Prussian loped along with fluid strides on the front end. He was asked the question turning for home and the response was immediate, as he opened up at will and crossed the line an impressive 6 3/4 lengths to the good of Nor'easterner (Fusaichi Pegasus). Hidden Glance (Kingmambo) was a good third. The dam is a half to ill-fated MGSW Mubtaker (Silver Hawk). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $37,800.
