Owner: Michael Tabor, Susan Magnier & Derrick Smith

Trainer: David Wachman
Queen Nefertiti was let go at 20-1 as the apparent second string for trainer David Wachman, but made a mockery of those odds with a stunning debut performance in a race in which her dam Chintz also made a successful debut six years ago. Stalking the leaders while trapped wide early after exiting neatly from barrier nine, she was hampered slightly just as the field entered the home turn. Recovering in an instant, she loomed large early in the straight and quickened in taking fashion entering the final eighth, surging clear for one flick of jockey Billy Lee's whip in the closing stages to score by an impressive 4 1/2 lengths from Simply a Star (Ire) (Giant's Causeway). “I was caught four wide for most of the way, but she was always travelling well,” said Lee. “When I asked her to pick up, she stayed on well and galloped all the way to the line.” The winner's third dam is responsible for Solemia (Ire) (Poliglote {GB}), winner of the 2012 G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, €11,385.
