Paul Pompa Jr. homebred Regal Glory (Animal Kingdom) charged home to an impressive victory in her Belmont unveiling Saturday to become the newest ‘TDN Rising Star.’ Saving ground near the back of the pack through an opening quarter in :22.42, the chestnut advanced up the fence through a half in :46.68. Jostled around and forced to check off heels in search of running room on the far turn, the 5-2 chalk burst through a seam in early stretch and unleashed a furious turn of foot, powering home to a dominant 5 1/2-length score. Shannon’s Girl (Orb) was the runner-up.

Regal Glory is a daughter of two-time graded winner Mary’s Follies. Her first foal was dual Grade III victor Night Prowler (Giant’s Causeway), MGSW, $464,582, who was formerly campaigned by Pompa and winning trainer Chad Brown and is now under the tutelage of Brown’s former assistant Dermot Magner. The 12-year-old mare produced an American Pharoah colt in 2017 and an Uncle Mo colt Mar. 25 of this year. She was bred back to Candy Ride (Arg).
