Reynaldothewizard posted several eye-catching morning moves at Keeneland and went postward as the 3-1 second choice. Away alertly under Julien Leparoux, the bay raced in fourth just behind the leaders through splits of :22.70 and :45.43. He joined his rivals four abreast in midstretch before kicking into gear, and drew off impressively to graduate by 4 3/4 lengths. Indeedingly (Street Cry {Ire}), a hard-luck second last out June 4, won the battle to complete the exacta this time by a half-length over More Than Global (More Than Ready). Reynaldothewizard marks the third winner from the first crop of his sire (by Gone West), who reigned as the nation's champion sprinter of 2004. He was bred in the name of Gibraltar Group, which is a foal share arrangement between SJB Stable, the owners of Holiday Runner, and Dean De Renzo and Randy Hartley. “We put up the stud fee, so actually we own half of the babies, but not the mare,” De Renzo explained earlier this year. Hartley/De Renzo bought out their partners for $400,000 when this colt was offered as a yearling at KEESEP, and put him back on the block this year at Fasig-Tipton. He breezed a furlong in :10 (video) and sold for $775,000 to Omar Trevino, who signed the ticket for Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum's Zabeel Racing. He was the second-highest priced-juvenile for Speightstown in 2008. Holiday Runner's first foal, a Street Cry (Ire) named Seventh Street, sold for $1 million at Calder in 2007. A very good juvenile herself in 2002, the bay mare produced a Ghostzapper filly in 2007, but came up barren when bred back to Unbridled's Song. According to De Renzo, Holiday Runner was booked to Dynaformer this season. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $25,965.
